Get Involved in Meaningful Use Discussions

Recently two documents of great importance to public health were published: Interim Final Rule Initial Set of Standards, Implementation Specifications, and Certification Criteria for Electronic Health Record Technology (ONC) and notice of proposed rulemaking Electronic Medical Record Incentive Program (CMS). Both documents are open for public comment until March 15. CDC staff in the Office of State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support (proposed) are collecting information that we think will be of assistance to many community members who desire to engage in discussions and/or send comments to ONC and CMS.

The excel file in the comment following this announcement is a list of conference calls focused on discussion of these two documents. The file will continue to be updated as additional information becomes available.

The presentation and pdf files are background materials from the Public Health Informatics Institute. The presentation files contain an overview of Meaningful Use and the implications for Public Health Agencies. The pdf tables detail the different sections of the documents with direct relation to population health.
