The CACoP supports all aspects of alerting, voice and applicable data communications technologies (e.g. PHIN MS) required to meet the state and CDC missions in support of PHIN.
The Laboratory Messaging Community of Practice (LM CoP) brings together PHIN stakeholders nationwide involved in defining, implementing, maintaining, evaluating, and evolving lab messaging.
Enterprise Architecture is the organizing logic for business processes and IT infrastructure reflecting the integration and standardization requirements operating model. This CoP links this concept with PHIN.
Margo Edmunds, PhD, a member of the Health Information Technology Team at Booz Allen Hamilton, has more than 20 years of experience in health policy analysis, disease management, and informatics. Her current work at Booz Allen focuses on health information and communications technology (Health IT) policy and implementation, including health information exchange, e-prescribing, e-learning, and telehealth. She recently co-authored a Booz Allen white paper on interoperability and health care reform, in collaboration with the Federation of American Hospitals and a panel of experts from the healthcare industry, provider community, government, and academia. Previously, she led an engagement for The Duke Endowment to develop an evaluation framework for statewide health information exchange in South Carolina. She also was a contributing author to the standards section of the vision document for the National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network. Dr. Edmunds has been a member of the teaching faculty at Johns Hopkins University since 1999, serves on AMIA’s Public Policy Committee and Public Health Informatics Workgroup, and chairs the Health IT Interest Group for AcademyHealth. Prior to joining Booz Allen in May 2008, she was a Vice President of the Lewin Group, and previously held senior positions at the Institute of Medicine, University of California, San Francisco, and Children’s Defense Fund. She holds a doctoral degree in human development from Penn State and completed a research and clinical fellowship at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
