- John Fitzpatrick is a Certified Enterprise Architect (CEA) in the CDC National Center for Public Health Informatics. He received his Enterprise Architecture (EA) certification from the Federal Enterprise Architecture Consortium (FEAC) Institute in Washington, D.C. and a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. John began developing information systems in financial services in 1983, and joined CDC in 1990. He has extensive project management experience and has worked in Enterprise Architecture and Information Technology Architecture since 1998. He joined the CDC National Center for Public Health Informatics in 2006, and has worked closely with the HHS Office of Enterprise Architecture.

The National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) is an XML-based information exchange framework. NIEM represents a collaborative partnership of agencies and organizations across all levels of government (federal, state, tribal, and local) and with private industry. Its purpose is to develop, disseminate, and support enterprise-wide information exchange standards and processes that will enable automated information sharing.
