Harold H (Hal) Collins is the Epi Info User Community Liaison responsible for coordinating user needs and software requirements for the Epi Info Tool Set used by Epidemiologists.
Mr. Collins joined the Epi Info Team in 2009, coming from the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), where he worked as an Information Systems Analyst. He was responsible for analyzing DoD information systems trouble and support requests worldwide.
Prior to joining DISA, Mr. Collins held several positions with the State of Oklahoma. He was the Information Systems Director for the Oklahoma Student Loan Authority where he led several projects to implement new technology to improve data processing and security of the Oklahoma Guaranteed Student Loan Program. Mr. Collins also held a position in the Oklahoma State Department of Health where he was responsible for coordinating Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) contracts to upgrade and install hospital Emergency Room Isolation Rooms to control the spread of infectious agents. At the health department he was also involved in support and planning for health emergency preparedness which included deployment of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and personal protective equipment. Before accepting the position with DISA, he worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services, Remote Site Services deploying Microsoft Servers to manage and backup data.
Mr. Collins has over 20 years of active Federal service. His Federal service includes Chief, Information Management at the Fort Sill Army Hospital and Detection Systems Specialist for the US Customs Agency. His active duty military assignments included Air Surveillance Officer and Senior Director aboard the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) conducting global air surveillance missions. He also has ten years experience as the commander of an Air Force Reserve computer and communications unit responsible for deploying computer and communications support.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Ohio University and a Master of Science, Systems Management degree from the University of Southern California.

An Intro to Epi Info 3.5.1 Class is scheduled for 24th and 25th February in Room 131 Bldg. 19 (CDCLibrary) Roybal Campus (CDC Atlanta GA). There is no cost for the class and it is open to anyone (CDC FTE, Contractors, Interns, Partners, etc.). The class will run from 0800-1700 each day.
