Greetings LMCoP Members,

For those attending this year's PHIN conference, I would like to invite you to the following LMCoP related happenings :

1) Session E-8 Community Collaboration in Laboratory Messaging: Data Access and Utilization Commonalities and Challenges Across Three National Public Health Informatics Workgroup
Time/Location: Tuesday, September 1, 1:30 -3:00pm, Dunwoody room
Summary: This community working meeting is the emergent Laboratory Messaging Community of Practice (CoP). This working meeting will discuss the formation of this unique CoP, followed by a panel review of the objectives and scope of the three working groups that comprise this CoP. The session will conclude with a facilitated discussion to identify, prioritize, and organize collaboration opportunities.

2)ELR Working Session
Time/Location: Wednesday, September 2, 5:00-8:00pm, Hanover FG
Summary:The Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) Working Group traditionally holds a working session at the annual PHIN Conference. The 2009 meeting will address topics including -
* Continued promotion of national collaboration in ELR
* Identification and inclusion of new ELR participants
* Updates and discussion of ongoing projects, e.g., HL7 balloting of the 2.5 Implementation Guide, the most recent annual national ELR survey, and the 2009 CSTE position paper.
* Discussion and planning of new group projects, prioritization of ELR concerns
* Discussion of the role of the ELR group in the newly-formed Laboratory Messaging Community of Practice

3) Luncheon with Vocabulary and Messaging CoP and LMCoP
Time/Location: Wednesday, September 2, 12:30pm, location TBD
Summary: Come meet your fellow Vocabulary and Messaging and LM CoP members, share a meal, discuss, collaborate and learn!

4) New Collaborative Tool Demonstration
Time/Location: ongoing, at exhibit hall, Public Health Informatics Institute(PHII) booth
Summary: phConnect is an online collaboration tool being created by PHII for public health professionals to meet, share expertise, and work together on advancing public health. Members of the LMCoP should stop by and learn about this new tool.
