We are currently undergoing Windows 7 compatibility testing for Epi Info 3.5.1. When this process is completed, and assuming no issues have been found, you can expect to see Windows 7 added to the list of operating systems at http://www.cdc.gov/epiinfo.
If you decide to use Epi Info 3.5.1 on a Windows 7 computer, you will need Microsoft's DHTML editing controls; you may obtain these at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=B769A4B8-4.... Also, if the operating system is running in 64-bit mode then the StatCalc utility will not function properly. Workarounds for this issue are available.
Thanks for all the responses. My laptop is Windows 7 and 64-bit. I didn't install the program though.. just change to use another older computer with Windows XP and it works fine.
I'm new to this forum, so there may be other discussion of this elsewhere, so forgive me if this has already been discussed.
A student using Windows 7 in a Field Epidemiology course I help with encountered an error saving/exporting a graph as a .jpg-- the error was encountered when clicking on the "Browse" button. As a work around, the student was able to export the file to the clipboard, which one could then paste and save as a JPEG.
This was before I found this forum and the DHTML editing control link, will pass this on to the user and see if it is a fix.
I was able to replicate the issue described on one of our Windows 7 test machines. Saving the graph as a file does indeed generate the automation error and subsequently closes the graphing application. The workaround is to use the copy to clipboard function under Edit. This action should let you paste the graph into the program of your choice, e.g. Word, OpenOffice.org, PhotoShop, etc.
Also, if you let Epi Graph run and then close it without exporting the file, the graph image is still generated. You should see it in the Analysis output window. Since the output window is just an HTML browser, you can right-click on the image and select 'Save Picture As', which should in effect be very similar as exporting the file from the graph application.
Thank you for the error report and the workaround! Let me know if there's anything we can do to assist.
Hi, when I installed, it said that"installation corrupt is detected".my computer is windows 7, 32 bit operating system, and I also downed and installed " Microsoft's DHTML editing controls" befor install epiinfo. what's the problem please?
It sounds like the download was interrupted or corrupted. You may need to re-download Epi Info and try installing it again. What was the exact error message you receive when trying to run the installation file?
I have had compatibility issues with EpiInfo and Windows7; when installed tabbed browsing hangs - no longer works, just stops in a new tab without displaying the page. This does not particularly matter except that it means Outlook WebAccess is no longer usable.
I have contacted the EpiInfo team at CDC - they have no plans to look at this issue as EpiInfo is not released as compatible with Windows7. Similarly the suggestions that Microsoft came up with were also ineffective.
I would be very grateful if anyone else had had this problem and managed to get around it if they could advise how. I am a big EpiInfo user.
