Public Health Training in the Dominican Republic

 

We are inviting public health students and professionals to join us for a one week training and experience in the Dominican Republic, in March 15-22 & May 17-24, 2014. The visit involves hands-on training in public health, volunteering at one or more of our hospitals, workshop at the PanAmerican Health (world health organization facilities), visiting the Public Health Department of Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo - the oldest university in the western hemisphere. You will also visit a Haitian Batey and experiencing life & health care in Latin America/Caribbean. Limited Spanish language training will be provided.

 

The all-inclusive cost of $3,650 (double occupancy) includes all ground arrangements (transfers, hotels, most meals, sightseeing, one night/2 days at a beach resort and all training and tips.

 

The tour is personally escorted by Dr. Shakil Khan, a licensed physician in the Dominican Republic, who has lived & worked in the D.R. for the past 25 years and trained hundreds of American students of medicine, nursing & public health in the Dom. Republic. Dr. Khan is a member of phConnect and is President of the Multicultural Council of America (www.multiculturalcouncil.org) and Dominican International College (www.dominicancollege.edu.do). Dr. Khan is also ‘Country Director’ for the ‘Smile Train Organization of NY, providing free surgeries for cleft lip/palate to hundreds of indigent Haitian and Dominican children for the past many years.

 

Seats are limited. Please book early. A deposit of $250 is required with full payment at least 90 days before departure. Airfare is not included.

 

Multicultural Council of America is a non-profit (501(c)(3) charitable organization, dedicated to promoting world cultures, education and health care. The cost of this educational program may be tax deductible – please check with your accountant.
