A Facilitated Review and Comment Process of the
CMS EHR Incentives NPRM and ONC Standards and Certification IFR

Please join the Public Health Data Standards Consortium (PHDSC) and the Joint Public Health Informatics Task Force (JPHIT) in a series of
Public Health webinars/calls being held to review and gather input and comments on the recently released CMS Notice of Proposed Rule Making
(NPRM) on EHR Incentives and Meaningful Use, and ONC Interim Final Rule (IFR) on Standards and Certification Criteria for Health IT.
Public health is specifically called out as a partner in putting these standards and criteria into place, and several criteria apply to public health,
including capability to submit electronic data to immunization registries and actual submission where required and accepted by the public health
agencies, capability to provide electronic submission of reportable lab results to public health agencies and actual submission where it can be
received, and capability to provide electronic syndromic surveillance data to public health agencies and actual transmission according to
applicable law and practice within the state.
